My New Book: Honey & Truffles 🍯

❤ ❤ ❤

Hi guys, I’m super excited to share something that I have been working on this past year. It’s my labour of love, my reason for emerging grey hairs and my long absence from blogging explained - all for my first book, Honey & Truffles !

Honey & Truffles is a collection of short stories about my time living and eating abroad during my adolescence. It covers several years of travels and my experiences growing up and learning about myself and this big ole’ world around me.

From stories about first loves and the ones in between to the trials of being a young woman in today’s world of Tinder culture and douchebags, there is something to appease all sense. I guess you could call it a twentysomething’s rendition of Eat, Pray, Love.

Oh, and there are recipes too! Located conveniently at the back of the novella, five recipes for some pretty important (dare I say, life-changing) foods I had the pleasure of tasting and/or cooking. Truffle pici, anyone?

Anyways, making a book was truly a life dream for me and I’m so proud of what I have been able to create. I’m beyond thrilled to share these pieces of my life with you all. It definitely wasn’t easy and it definitely didn’t happen overnight! Ask my family, friends or boyfriend and they’ll fill you in about how there were many up-till-4 a.m. nights spent editing and sometimes tears because my non-tech savvy brain just couldn't figure out Adobe InDesign. But, all the stress and heartache was well worth it.

I feel especially blessed to have learned alongside talented fellow authors like Trisha Asuncion and Shannon Terrell who were the best editor’s and classmates I could ever ask for. With their help, I grew as a writer and a friend ❤

Equally as talented, my actual editor Nick West was also a guiding light as I tried my best to navigate through the highs and lows of being a new author. Though sometimes the editing process was hard, it made me a better writer and for that I’m grateful to him.

I also couldn’t have asked for a better teacher and mentor; Professor Guy Allen helped make sense of the nonsensible world of being a new author tasked with learning strange bookmaker lingo and battling pressing deadlines. Thank you also to my other professors like Robert Price, Rahul Sethi and Laurel Waterman who made me fall in love with the craft of writing with each lecture they gave.

I’d also like to mention that my roommate-turned-super-friend Bria, who appears in many stories, also contributed to my book by adding a surprise illustration after the recipes. It’s absolutely beautiful and was the personal added touch I needed to make this book complete. I’m thrilled that I could showcase Bria’s talents alongside something that I’m so proud of! If you’re interested in commissioning an artist extraordinaire for any reason, I suggest you follow her Instagram @b_dopz.

Publishing a book so young is something I never imagined would happen. Thankfully, I had the support of family, friends, and some amazing PWC professors. Thank you to everyone who has helped in the writing, editing and publishing process. A special thank you to the people that have inspired these stories. I’m so lucky.

Check out Honey & Truffles and let me know what you think! I love fan mail 😉
